Question

A resistance thermometer is made one arm of a Wheatstone bridge. At 0C0^\circ\text{C} its resistance is 100 Ω100\ \Omega. Its temperature coefficient is 4.0×103 C14.0\times10^{-3}\ ^\circ\text{C}^{-1}. The bridge is balanced at an unknown temperature when the other three arms are 120 Ω120\ \Omega, 150 Ω150\ \Omega, and 160 Ω160\ \Omega arranged so that RT/120=160/150R_T/120=160/150.
Total: 5 marks

(a) Find the thermometer resistance at balance. (2 marks)

(b) Find the temperature. (3 marks)
